In the twelfth chapter of 1 Corinthians, Paul makes it clear that the body of Christ consists of many members who possess different gifts and functions. God gave these gifts and functions to each one of us for a specific place and purpose. Confusion exists in the body of Christ today because so many members have shifted themselves to where they want to be and away from where God placed them.
18But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. 19And if they were all one member, where would the body be?
1 Corinthians 12:18-19
The Holy Spirit must be the only guide that we use in this placement process. He is the giver of all talents, gifts and functions. He is not confused as to where He wants each one of us to be, and we must yield to His will in this matter. We need to stay in the place where God puts us until He says differently. If we don't stay where He places us, gaps will be left. People, souls and even you can be lost through those gaps that we make by trying to do our own thing.
