A Young Womans Story
A young woman stepped into a Christian counselor"s office. The young lady wanted to be counseled because she was having some marital problems. It was obvious to the counselor that her husband was having an affair, and that he was going to leave her. Sometimes when you are counseling people you just cant tell the person what you perceive and know because they may not be ready for the information. In counseling you find yourself listening a lot, but you dont say much until they have a readiness to hear and recognize what is going on before their very eyes. Over the course of time this young woman began to see that this relationship and marriage was going to breakup. She continues to see the counselor for counseling, and one night she goes to bed and she has a dream. It will help you to understand the story better if you knew one thing about her history. She was adopted.
The first thing you need to know about people who are adopted is that they always have issues about their birth parents. They ask questions like, "Why did you give me up?" Whether it is articulated or not, it is always there. Typically speaking these people have issues with rejection because they did not grow-up with their natural parents. And they may never tell you this, but it is always somewhere in the background. This young lady goes to bed one night. Remember. Her husband just left her with two small children, so now she has a rejection upon a rejection. Anybody who is not self-preoccupied, self centered, selfish, self-righteous or has some sort of balance is going to ask at least one question if a spouse leaves, Is it something that I did? It causes one to want to take a look at oneself.
In this dream she is in the home of her past, and she hears this little baby crying. Her motherly instincts begin to follow the voice of a crying baby. As she begins to walk the house she sees this little baby girl facing the corner crying. The child is alone, and there is no one there to take care of the child, love the child or nurture the child. As a mother she shows mercy upon the child. She picks the child up. She turns the child around and it is he, and the dream ends. Her dream was Gods way of saying, "You are experiencing a need to identify the rejected child within. Rather than waiting, looking, and expecting somebody else to come and meet that childs need for love and acceptance, you need to begin to love your own rejected child within. You need to come to the place of personal acceptance." This dream was a revelation from God to say that, "It is time for you to love yourself, accept yourself, embrace yourself, nurture yourself and care for yourself just like you would a helpless child." God used her understanding of what it was like to be a mother to give her a message.
Healing from rejection comes when:
- You love you because God loves you.
- You accept you because God accepts you.
- You value you because if God can value you, then you can value you.
Here is a young woman who as a result of her rejection was suffering depression. The key to her depression lifting was her being healed of the rejection. God was calling her life into divine order. Anytime God calls you into order it means that God is about to bless you. Sometimes stuff happens in life that strips you. Sometimes you are on your way and life robs you. While you are on your way, sometimes life will strip you, beat you up, wound you, and leave you by the road side suffering. But then, Jesus comes in the form of the Good Shepherd or in the form of revelation telling you it's time for you to accept the oil of healing. Jesus wants to put you on His donkey, take you to an inn that becomes a hospital to bring you to a place of recovery, but you need to let yourself get well.
